Is the car safe with Wheelz? What about my child?
Safety and security are our top priority. Here are some ways we make sure the experience is safe:
Every rental is covered by our insurance policy, and it will not impact your existing policy.
Wheelz members only share cars within the same campus community.
All drivers must pass a rigorous background check.
Our in-car technology enables us to know who is driving the car, and if needed for safety, where the car is located.
We broker the rental transaction, so there is never a need for the owner to meet the renter.
What about insurance?
Wheelz provides a 1 million dollar insurance policy that goes into effect the moment a driver starts a reservation. It includes:
General liability
Comprehensive
Collision
Uninsured / under-insured motorist
How exactly does my child make money from this?
Car owners set pricing based on the cost of others using their car. (Wheelz provides pricing guidelines based on vehicle type, but it is their decision) Wheelz collects the payments from renters for every reservation, and owners receive their earnings monthly – by Paypal, direct bank deposit or check. Many students make $200 a month, with the potential to make several times that.

Wheelz is the best way for students to conveniently share cars on campus. Students lend cars to their
friends already – Wheelz provides a safe, easy and profitable way to loan out their car.
Wheelz connects student car owners to classmates who need a car for a grocery
run, an errand or movie night. Car owners sign up their cars with Wheelz, indicate times that
their car is available and then sit back as their car earns money for them.

Because it’s awesome. Seriously though, students love it because it’s free, easy and
it works. Wheelz enables students on campuses to share cars responsibly, earn money, get mobile and
build a socially and environmentally conscious community. It’s safe because only members of
the campus community whose driving backgrounds have been checked by Wheelz are able to reserve
your child’s car.
Why is car sharing a good idea, financially?
Car ownership can cost around $700 a month, factoring in gas, maintenance, permits etc., but the
average car owner only uses his/her car for an hour a day. By joining Wheelz, the student car owner
can utilize an idle asset to earn money and help pay some of those bills.
Where is Wheelz available?
Wheelz is currently only available to members of the Stanford community. We will be
expanding to other communities soon and we’ll be sure to let you know. The best way to stay

What do I need to do?
You will need to read and agree to our Terms of Service to allow your child to start using Wheelz. Then, call your child and give them the good news.
Is it really free to be a Wheelz member?
Yes, it really is.
What cars are eligible?
Almost all car types are eligible for the Wheelz platform. Cars must be in safe working condition (we will perform a inspection prior to approving a car for us on our network). In some cases age and mileage may disqualify a car.

How does my child get paid?
Your child will get paid his/her earnings monthly. Your child is free to choose the method of payment - direct bank deposit or physical check.
What is required to get my child’s car ready to start making money?
The process is pretty simple:
After your child sign up we will schedule a call with you to help you answer any questions about the service
We’ll install the Wheelz DriveBox in your car
You’ll complete your online vehicle profile and schedule your car’s availability.
Can my child set the price for his/her car?
Yes, owners control how much it costs to use your car. We will provide suggested pricing based on your car’s age and type, but it is your decision.
How can my child ensure that his/her car is available when needed?
Your child has complete control of his/her car’s availability on the Wheelz network. We make scheduling very simple through his/her’s online profile on wheelz.com or using our iPhone app
What if my child needs the car at the last minute, but someone already reserved it?
We’ll do our best to make sure he/she can use their own car. If their car is in use by another member (or almost in use), we will help you find another car on the network to use while your car is out on reservation.
Over the years my child’s car has developed some quirks. How will people know the ins and outs?
Any special instructions are part of a vehicle’s profile and the student car owner is encouraged to list all of the car’s quirks and we’ll make sure any driver using your car is aware of what makes your car tick.
Who can reserve my car?
Only Wheelz members that are part of the campus community.
Can my child see who has rented his/her car?
Absolutely. Transparency is very important to us. On your Wheelz profile,, you can see your car’s rental history and reviews left by Wheelz members.
If my child’s car is damaged, what should he/she do?
Let us know as soon as possible. We’ll make it right. Our first priority is making sure that we take care of your child and their vehicle.
How does gas work?
We provide a Wheelz gas card for every car on our network, which Wheelz members will use to fill up your car anytime the tank is lower than ¼.
As the owner, you are responsible for the cost of gas - we deduct gas costs earnings from your total earnings every month. You are able to set your rental rate accordingly.
How much mileage is included?
Included in the reservation period is 15 miles of driving per hour or 120 miles per day. Beyond the mileage limit, drivers are charged 40 cents/mi which is paid to you to cover additional gas and wear & tear.
Once the Wheelz DriveBox is installed, can my child access the car using the iPhone app or Wheelz card?
Yes, it’s really convenient. Your child will never get locked out of the car again!
